Question 1:   When i use my Auto Zap 5, it beeps every 2 minutes which didn’t happen in the early times I have been using it. I thought the connectors are malfunctioning and so tried to change it and use the extra cable that comes with it but it still beeps every 2 minutes. I tried turning off the beep like how it is shown in the CD but it still sounds.  What should I do?

Question 2:  My batteries are slowly dying, as it is giving the extra beep during the traditional zap time.  What batteries do you recommend, for your product, and do you have info on how to install them?  Do you recommend rechargable batteries?

ANSWER:  When the zapper gives a faint high-low beep, or gives a faint double beep randomly, this indicates that the batteries are getting low.  Normal zapper usage gives up to 1 year of battery life.  However, some of the longer functions on the zapper more battery power and the battery life will be shorter.  Listen for the faint high-low beep as an indicator that you need to change the batteries.  Watch our Battery care video here.

We recommend high quality alkaline “AA” batteries such as Duracell or Energizer for the best performance in your AutoZap 5.  We recommend against rechargeables for several reasons:

  • the AutoZap 5 is extremely efficient, so rechargeables tend to self-discharge from being in the zapper for a long time
  • rechargeables are much more likely to leak and cause corrosion
  • they don’t last as long as alkalines
  • alkaline batteries are inexpensive
