Question: I was wondering if I should zap the bag of potting mix I got from the garden center? Appreciate your help. JC
Answer: Thank you for the great message today.
Soil from a compost pile ferments and breaks down the plant matter, creating a soil that is beneficial to the garden. Bacteria and living organisms live in the soil, along with earthworms which aerate the soil. Minerals are also in the soil, which are drawn up into the growing plant. We need diversity of living organisms for the benefit of our food as it grows. There is no need to zap the soil.
I hope this helps,
