Question: My AutoZap 5 Zapper made a weird alert sound and then turned off. I thought it needed batteries, so I put in a new pair. Now it won’t turn on at all. What should I do?

Answer:  Here is a likely explanation of what your Zapper was telling you.

The Zapper senses when the battery is running low, and gives a series of random short beeps. You may not have recognized those random short beeps, or misinterpreted them as the normal running of the zapper if you were not paying big attention to it.

After giving those short beeps, and when there is not enough battery life to complete the zapping cycle, your zapper will turn itself off.

You correctly inserted a new set of batteries, and found that the zapper will not turn on. This is most probably because the microprocessor must be reset. The “reset” procedure is described here.

Please see our top FAQ page here www.BestZapper.com/faq  It includes a troubleshooting section, with a checklist of things to look at in troubleshooting your own AutoZap 5. There are other issues from a broken wire to a plug that has not been fully plugged in.

Basically, to do the reset you must remove the batteries that you have just installed, re-insert them, but you MUST wait to start your zapper. It takes 1-3 minutes for the Zapper to internally reset. After a waiting period, press the start button. You should be back and running again. Remember again –  check www.BestZapper.com/faq for more information.
